Ukraine has blamed the U.S. for the conflict with Russia after failing to defeat them. The Ukrainian President’s adviser, Mykhailo Podolyak, has said that the U.S. seeks to make amends for a ‘historical mistake’ by admitting Kyiv into NATO. Ukraine has insisted that the U.S. is obligated to ‘protect it’ because it agreed to return atomic weapons to Russia in exchange for guarantees of territorial integrity in 1994. While the Ukrainian President’s adviser has now admitted that the U.S.-led West’s ‘mistakes’ led to war, Russia has been claiming this since the beginning of the conflict.
