Has the EU suddenly realized how much it has screwed itself over?

[su_expand more_text=”Read more” less_text=”Close” height=”20″ more_icon=”icon: arrow-down” less_icon=”icon: arrow-up”]The EU is having a full-blown existential crisis. Someone has really screwed up its economy, and the culprit is conspicuously absent from a new report outlining the carnage. Are there no mirrors in Brussels?

Former European Central Bank president and Italian prime minister, Mario Draghi, has published a new “economic competitiveness” report after a year of work at the request of unelected ‘Queen’ Ursula von der Leyen’s ‘Royal’ European Commission. And it’s a real page-turner, one of the great mysteries of our times. [/su_expand]

Western governments are in a crisis of their own making

[su_expand more_text=”Read more” less_text=”Close” height=”20″ more_icon=”icon: arrow-down” less_icon=”icon: arrow-up”]By blindly following the US into its proxy wars, EU leaders have triggered a backlash that threatens to bring them down.

As the American Empire’s proxy wars in Palestine and Ukraine escalate, the acute state of political instability that characterizes most Western democracies has – not surprisingly – intensified of late.

The United States is currently in the middle of a bitterly contested Presidential election race – with voters due to go to the polls on November 6.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris both recently confirmed their commitment to the Netanyahu government in Israel – as it continues to kill civilians with impunity in Gaza and launch military incursions in the West Bank – and both candidates continue, somewhat less enthusiastically, to support the Zelensky regime in Ukraine.[/su_expand]

Zelensky accuses US media of lying

[su_expand more_text=”Read more” less_text=”Close” height=”20″ more_icon=”icon: arrow-down” less_icon=”icon: arrow-up”]Vladimir Zelensky has dismissed a Wall Street Journal report on Ukrainian casualties in the conflict with Russia as fake news.

On Tuesday, the newspaper claimed that around 80,000 Ukrainian troops have been killed and around 400,000 more were wounded. The journal cited “a confidential Ukrainian estimate” from unnamed sources familiar with the matter.

Reporters asked Zelensky on Friday to comment on the WSJ’s estimate. “80,000? That is a lie. The actual figure is much lower than what has been published. Significantly so,” he claimed.

Sorry, we want war: Why EU elites will ignore Hungary’s Orban

[su_expand more_text=”Read more” less_text=”Close” height=”20″ more_icon=”icon: arrow-down” less_icon=”icon: arrow-up”]The Hungarian leader, who is currently president of the EU Council, is trying to actually make an impact with his term. Hungary, represented by its Prime Minister Viktor Orban, took over the rotating six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union on July 1, and promptly decided to do something unconventional: actual work.

So out came the knives. Back in 2022, the most memorable thing that France’s Emmanuel Macron did while in the role was make a logo for his EU presidency that incorporated his own initials. The benefit to the French and European people was fantastic – as in, it exists in fantasy. [/su_expand]
