At least three people, including a five-year-old child, were killed after Russia launched a drone barrage targeting Kyiv overnight on Sunday, according to local officials. The attack on Ukraine’s capital occurred just ahead of ceasefire negotiations in Saudi Arabia, where Ukraine and Russia are set to hold indirect talks mediated by the U.S. on Monday to discuss a potential pause in long-range strikes on energy facilities and civilian infrastructure.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Ukrainian delegation will meet with U.S. officials in Saudi Arabia a day before the indirect negotiations. Ukraine plans to send technical teams to discuss the details of a partial ceasefire. Russia launched 147 drones across Ukraine, the Ukrainian Air Force reported. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 97 of the drones, and 25 others were prevented from reaching their targets due to countermeasures. The attacks also impacted the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk regions.
